I only use a mouse for gaming since i have the UHK (60&80). Using the same homerow keys for the mouse that also move the cursor became natural after a few days.
I have the touchpad, but rarelly use it. My mouse is ijkl, spaces for left, and right alt for right click.
Thatâs a unique setup! Itâs great that using homerow keys for the mouse became natural over time. I wonder how it affects your mouse clicking speed compared to a traditional setupâhave you noticed any difference in reaction time or accuracy while gaming?
For FPS I use a real mouse, 4x games work fine with just the keyboard. Clickspeed ist the same my config for mousespeed ist Up to 4-5k px max.
The strangest side effect is that my mouse movements seem to trigger captchas because i often move the mouse perfectly along the x or y axis. So some websites think Iâm a bot ![]()
Yeah, I would love if the UHK80 would also show the SetLedTxt three character strings. Itâs so useful to display some feedback from macros!
I ordered trackpoint, but got trackball by mistake. Already in the process of replacement, so I can speak about it when I get the correct one.
Anyway, I wasnât aware how the ijkl mouse layer really works before I put into test. And once I started using it, I find this thing super comfy tbh. IDK if in the long run the trackpoint will be used more often yet, but mouse layer + ijkl is a killer feature of UHK ![]()
Once youâre comfortable with the mouse keys, youâll wonder why itâs not a feature on every board.![]()
Finally! UHK80 arrived today and I think I am going to like this a lot. Unlocked the chief family nerd award right away ![]()
The trackpoint I finally went for works surprisingly well, which I am really happy about. And then thereâs the little trackball and keyboard only mouse ⌠somewhat overwhelmed with all the available options.
One thing I think I want to explore asap is, if and how I could use the UHK80 while my laptop is, well on my lap, living room sofa situation ![]()
Problem is, I canât have the keyboard in front of the laptop because my lap is not large enough
and the screen would be too far away for me. The UHK has to go over the existing keyboard somehow.
So, what I envision is 2 plates, maybe 3d printed, which I mount to both sides using the riser screw holes, with a bit of foam rubber where the plates will touch the edges of the laptop.
And then somehow connect the two plates together with a fixable ball joint in the middle or maybe one of these bendable but firm tubes I see used for e.g. camera mounts.
This should allow me to keep the keyboards at a slight outward angle, stay clear of the notebook keyboard and still be able to move the two sides around to make them fit my current position.
Has anyone done anything similar already or is this so stupid an idea that no one even considered?
Itâs adventurous for sure, but youâre not alone. There have been some pretty wild ideas so far. Like this: Belt: New to modding but have an idea, how to get started?
Anyway, I think you just designed the first UHK Laptop module ![]()
Now you just need a way for the pogo pins on the module mount to detect when the laptop lid opens/closes, and wake/sleep the UHK accordingly. (To make it an âofficialâ module)
Now that I have the metal ball, I love the trackball.
Wow, those belts are truly next level ![]()
