Agent 10.1.0 died during firmware upgrade

Just installed Agent 10.1.0 and tried to upgrade UHK80 firmware. Firmware was at 17.0.0. RHS proceeded fine to completion. When prompted moved USB cable from RHS to LHS. LHS firmware upgrade started but then Agent died. On restart Agent reports RHS firmware at 17.2.0 and LHS firmware at 17.0.0.

Keyboard seems to work (I’m typing on it right now). Don’t want to retry upgrade until you tell me if you want logs (and if so, which logs).

Not sure actually. Will have Robi look at them if you post them.

You should be able to find Agent logs here:

  • on Linux: ~/.config/uhk-agent/uhk-agent.log
  • on macOS: ~/Library/Logs/uhk-agent/uhk-agent.log
  • on Windows: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\uhk-agent/uhk-agent.log

This log includes the upgrade of Agent. The crash happens at 2026-07-13 10:30:57.306 - I restarted it about a minute later. (Around line 1751.)

Hmmm. Can’t upload a txt/log file. Ok - here’s gist.

What exactly happened there?

By “restarted it”, you mean restarted the uhk80 left half with its reset button?

What exactly do you mean by “died”/“crashed”?

Sorry about that - should have been more clear:

  • Very quickly after I plugged the USB cable into the UHK80 LHS the Agent program died - it’s UI just disappeared from the screen (Windows 11) and a check of the Task Manager showed no Agent process running at all. So, died in the “process crashed without any warning, without showing any dialog” sense.
  • By restarted I just meant that I clicked on the Agent’s icon again to restart it.

During this process I did not reset the UHK80 at all. I did move the USB cable back to the RHS after I restarted the Agent (because it complained it wouldn’t talk to it via Bluetooth, I had forgotten about that).

Thanks!

I have pinged Robi about it.

I am not sure how much he will be able to do about it, as the log doesn’t contain any crash info .

The logs don’t contain anything. I don’t think the firmware upgrade killed Agent.
It should be some os, device, driver issue that caused illegal behaviour and the OS killed the app.

We always catch every error and show it to the user or save it into file on worth case. Feel free to start agent and connect the LHS to the computer without the firmware upgrade process. Agent should show UHK80 Left side connected please switch to RHS. If OS kills Agent than it is a driver or OS issue. Let us know the result

These days I don’t know what is better if you use the latest Win 11 OS patch or not.

ok, I connected both RHS and LHS with USB cables, restarted Agent, and reflashed. Went well and both RHS and LHS are now at 17.2.0.

So … I’m willing to say “transient” (sh*t happens) and move on to the next thing …

TY!
