How did UHK 60v2 change over time?

Hey all! I wonder how UHK 60v2 changed over time of its production.

The reason is, I have one from the very first batch, and another one came in a few days ago. I noticed that:

  • LED display is completely different
  • new one is quieter and more pleasant to type on (box browns on both, same keycaps, the old one got a fresh set)
  • case buttons are kinda softer and easier to activate it seems on the new one, again, feel better than the old.

I didn’t notice any changes over 5 years of using the old one. So I’m curious if the latter 2 differences are unit-to-unit, or something changed in production process? If it did, is there anything I can do to bring the old one on-par with the new one?

Like, literally the only difference between them (on paper, that is) is the color of the case! (same rubber palm rests, riser at the same angle, etc)

I’m also curious about this. I bought a uhkv2 from someone and the led’s were red, but newer ones ( or at least the one i bought after ) has a white led.

The UHK60v1 had a red LED segment display, and no RGB backlight (unless you soldered the backlight upgrade kit yourself). The UHK60v2 has a white LED segment display and RGB backlight.

Are you sure you have a UHK60v2 with the red LED segment display, or is it actually a UHK60v1?

Not correct maexxx, the original initial UHK60v2 had red LED segment (I have two of them)

Oh ok, then I stand corrected!

I have just learned:

White LED segment: definitely UHK60v2
Red LED segment: can be UHK60v1 (no backlight unless upgraded with backlight kit soldered manually) or early UHK60v2 (keys have backlight)

Yeah, I’m quite sure I have one UHK60v1 and two UHK60v2s  The question is about the latter two

Notable changes:

  • LED display LED colors, as you mentioned
  • Tweaked the case buttons, as also mentioned
  • We’re now applying lithium grease to stabilizers
  • Tweaked the flip-out feet, so their hooks shouldn’t break anymore

NGL I kinda like the red led v2 i have more.

I also prefer the red LEDs over white. I think it has more personality.

Red is really dark for me; I have protanomaly. I have to turn the brightness of the red display really high to see it reasonably well. I thus much prefer the white segment display.

Thank you! Interesting, so nothing regarding the switches themselves, or the plates – anything that could change the base feel of pushing a button?

A solid reason to prefer the white ones for sure.

No change in this department.
