I don’t think this is an issue with the UHK, but I’m really hoping someone here is able to help or has had the same experience. It’s immensely frustrating.
Earlier this year I switched from Windows to Linux. When I power down my PC on Windows (Win10 and Win11 behave the same), my UHK switches off (3-char display goes off). On Linux, is stays lit which is very irritating and means I have to unplug my keyboard every time I switch off my PC.
I found someone on the Linux StackExchange with the exact issue I have, on an identical setup (dual boot Linux/Windows, keyboard plugged in via USB hub). Their solution doesn’t work for me unfortunately; the UHK goes off for a few seconds and then right as the PC goes to shutdown, it powers back on. Note that, as that page describes, if I plug my UHK directly into the PC everything works correctly (but it would be pretty irritating to do this as the peripherals have to switch between devices semi-regularly, and the hub makes a one-cable solution).
Have any other UHK owners experienced this, and has anyone overcome it? To be clear I think the UHK is behaving correctly.
Reading around the issue in other posts, some people have suggested the cause is that the Linux kernel expects USB hubs to propagate a suspend signal themselves, whereas Windows aggressively traverses the whole tree and sends suspend. This sounds plausible and would explain things, especially since I’m on Mint and the poster on SE is on Fedora.
