UHK 80 left half works only over bridge cable (Lights stay on wirelessly, but no connection

Hi UHK Support,

I am having a wireless connection issue with my UHK 80. The left half has completely stopped registering keystrokes when running wirelessly via BLE/Bluetooth, while the right half works perfectly on its own.

Here is the exact behavior and what I have already tried to troubleshoot:

  1. Bridge Cable Connection: When I connect both halves using the physical bridge/spiral cable, the left half works perfectly and all keys register fine.

  2. Wireless Behavior: The moment I unplug the bridge cable, the LEDs on the left half stay turned on. This confirms that the internal battery is alive, holding a charge, and physically connected. However, it completely stops sending data or typing.

  3. Firmware & Agent Re-pairing: I opened UHK Agent, unlocked the hidden Advanced Settings (clicking the icon 7 times), and attempted the “Re-pair keyboard halves” process while the bridge cable was connected. Both halves were fully updated to the latest firmware. Unfortunately, the pairing process failed to resolve the issue.

  4. Hard Resets: I have tried turning off all host Bluetooth devices to prevent interference and pressed the recessed reset button on the back of the left half.

Since the battery has power and the hardware functions perfectly over the cable, it seems like the internal wireless/RF chip on the left half is stuck or the EEPROM sync is corrupted.

Could you please advise on how to force a full wireless sync reset, or let me know if this requires a hardware replacement?

Thank you!

What firmware version are you on exactly? Can you confirm that both halves are flashed to the same version?

One more thing to check; do you possibly have set bluetooth.enabled false being triggered anywhere ($onInit, $onKeymapChange, $onLayerChange macros, etc.)?

When you used the reset button on the left keyboard half, did you see/use a “Fix device” button in Agent? That button is usually an unnecessary step in most circumstances. For future reference, if the fix device message ever persists after using the left reset button, ignore the “Fix device” button at first, and try using the reset button on the right keyboard half instead. Normally, the right half’s reset button should restart and recover the UHK within 5-10 seconds and the left-right link will reset during the process.

Unless the devs suggest otherwise, I would try the following:

  • Disconnect the bridge cable, and connect both halves to a PC via USB.

  • Then press the right half’s reset button (Ignore Agent’s “Fix device” button), and wait for the UHK to finish restarting.

  • Then check if the left half is working. If not, try the “Re-pair keyboard halves” procedure again, but with the bridge cable still disconnected and both halves connected via USB.

If none of that helps, then I’d try manually reflashing the latest firmware again.

It worked using the reset from the right half! Really appreciate it! Thanks
