UHK 80 palm rest refurbishment

Hi folks,

After years of UHK 60 use I had to refurbish the palm rest - sand it to wood and paint.

The procedure can be found on this forum.

Just bought a UHK 80 and I can’t seem to find a way to detach the wooden palm rest.

At some point I’ll need to do this.

Is it possible and where is it documented?

(I wouldn’t know myself though, I don’t have the official version .)

Yes, that should do it!

Thanks, mate!

I find the easiest way is to push a blunted toothpick up through the bottom of the case (where the detachable feet mount). Just BE CAREFUL and make sure you do it from the holes located at the innermost corners on the bottom edge. You obviously don’t wanna puncture the batteries (if your UHK80 has batteries).:fire::face_in_clouds:

Once you get one corner up, they’re easy to pull the rest of the way off.

If you’re not comfortable trying that, then a little waxed floss slips under there pretty easily.

A bit of a warning; I don’t really recommend using a pry tool the first time you remove them. The undersides of the wooden pads have little relief holes where the case screws go into the metal plate, so depending on your particular wood grain, it might be a little brittle in those spots. I accidentally chipped a small piece out of the edge of one of mine when trying to use a pry tool. Using the floss method can get stuck in the chip now too, so just be mindful of the case screw placement.
