Update after 10 days of using this neoprene replacement pad:
Everything working perfectly, and I actually like the feel of this more than the original rubber. I’m debating if I’ll be purchasing a replacement once the issue is resolved. No idea how this material will holding up to cleaning as it’s potentially absorbent and also held on with adhesive, but my $13USD purchase has left me with enough to make at least 6 more full replacement sets beyond this first one, and so far it’s been staying clean.
I’m using polyethylene (PE) tape, so I guess I’ll try polypropylene (PP) instead. I’m not sure if it’ll be much better though. It looks like your bubble is closer to the center of the pad. My bubble is along the bottom edge and the entire left corner, so the rubber is a bit thicker there. It’s actually stretched the material close to 1/4" over the edge on the corner now.
I received a “Your order is ready to ship!” email on April 24th 2025.
I have the same issue, though it’s pretty minor right now. It’s on my left hand side. I feel like I tend to apply more pressure on my left hand when I type. As I reach for keys in the upper left and right of the left side of the keyboard I think that movement is stretching the cover? It may only happen to some of us because we’re pressing down harder on the cover with our palms and others are only lightly touching it.
I noticed the battery cover rocks slightly when I remove the rubber cover and that may also be a factor? I don’t have batteries in mine.
It’s been about a month or two since getting my replacement pads whenever I sent the keyboard back for repairing the coil whine (which has been amazing and hasn’t come back, I’m so grateful). The bubbling up has begun again on the right side so not quite sure what else there is I can do to resolve this. I will note that it started the day after I spilled a very small amount of water on the pad (like the moisture from a glass dropping off as I moved it from one side to another), but I’ve also had water droplets fall on the pad other times and nothing happened so unsure if it’s the reason. Note: The right pad was the first to start bubbling up but now I’m starting to feel one on the left pad that’s just starting…
Mine has started to bubble up very slightly, not really noticeable yet but it’s gotten shiny and sticky. I’m betting the rubber used is being deteriorated by the oils in our hands.
I emailed through the contact form about getting the files, but never got a reply. Once my print farm catches up to orders I’ll try to make a 3d printable replacement from scratch. I dont use the batteries so i will be making a version that allows for softer cushioning using infill. as well as one that fits the stock plastic covers.
Just pry it off and you will see. You can put it back easily.
Actually it comes off far too easy. It often happens to me that when I flick my hand (from position when I have my hands in between the riser-tented halves), I brush against it and the rubber goes flying across the room.
Seeing bubbling on the left side (using plugged in without batteries). order 20484 shipped march 2025. The left side also seems to have been bricked with the latest update so less concerned about the rubber pad than about the thing actually working… especially since I have become completely dependent on my uhk layers / macros
