GA, I have the old UHK, thinking of upgrading, but I’m looking for a keyboard that will connect to multiple devices at the same time, the reason why is I have a Mac, a Windows and a work machine. Having 3 keyboards and mice is just ridiculous.
Currently I have a small keyboard, with the UHK splited on it’s sides (+2 mice)… the 3rd one I stretch over to a laptop. I wonder if I buy the new UHK, with muliple dongles, if I could use all 3 with 1 keyboard.
I have bought a usb splitter, but I have to reach out to the dongle, then it disconnects from one, and connects the the other one, taking time, taking my hands of the keyboard and also the work laptop always goes afk since there is no input until i switch into it.
My dream setup would be a UHK, with 3 dongles, and a macro to switch connectivy among the 3 computers.
Is it possible with the UHK80 + 3 wireless dongle!? (hell i would even go wired if i need to) I ask this since on the homepage is says connectivity up to 20 devices! (what does this even mean?)
If its not possible dang, i would keep it as a suggestions for future versions…
Also the 20 devices means that it is possible to pair to up to 20 devices (dongles, or ble hids), manage their name, settings, etc.. In future it should be able to switch between all of them seamlessly, although we are not quite there yet.
In practice, dongles work fine. Uhk can pair up to those 20 and maintain connection to 3 dongles at a time (this is quite an arbitrarily chosen number) and switch between these instantaneously (either by name, or by iteratig next, previous, etc). If you want to switch to one that is not connected at the moment, you can via a macro (say switchHost macDongle) - in that case uhk will free one connection slot (i.e., disconnect one of currently connected devices) and try to establish the selected connection. This works, but such switch takes a second or so.
Ble hid support is less than ideal: we allow at most one ble hid connected at a time, and I am not sure if macro induced switchovers work.
(Yes, you can switch either via a macro or via a native key popover action.)
